Don’t Treat Secessionist with Soft Gloves – Security Analyst
Security Analyst, Sule Ibrahim has charged government to as a matter of urgency find new ways of dealing with the ‘secessionist’ group.
The Military invaded and arrested 21 trainees at the training camp of ‘secessionist’ at Kpevedue and Fievue, a twin community on the Ghana-Togo border in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.
The arrested persons aged between 20 and 30 included one female and 20 males, coming from different parts of the country. The leader absconded upon sensing danger when the military team invaded the camp at about 3 am on Monday.
According to the military, the camp is believed to be operated by the Homeland Study Group Foundation, a secessionist group fighting for the independence of the then Western Togoland from Ghana.
Upon interrogation, the arrested persons confessed
they were deceived to be enlisted into the Military and charged an entrance fee
of ¢800.00, only to be brought to the said location for training. The military
believes the mind behind the camp and training of these people might have some
military background considering the sighting and set up of the camp.
Commenting on the issue today in an interview with
the media, Mr. Sule Ibrahim said, it is about time the government deals with
the issue with all the serious attention it deserves.
