TRADITIONAL RULERS HAVE NO POWER TO BANISH-CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER

TRADITIONAL RULERS HAVE NO POWER TO BANISH

Constitutional Lawyer, Mr. Kofi Bekai has stated without hesitation that, the act of banishing is outmoded because of the law and therefore traditional rulers have no audacity to banish people from their community.

The Founder and General Overseer of the Zion Army Church at Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region, Pastor John Mark has been accused by a female church member of hypnotising and having sexual intercourse with her for a year.

He has subsequently been fined GHc 5,000.00 and at the same time banished from the community by 'Nananom' for sleeping with a married woman.

According to the woman (name withheld) in question, the said cast spell on a bead and offered it to her as a prosperity miracle and henceforth, the Pastor had been passing his way through her in sexual activities over one year.

The married woman regaining conscious from the pastor's spell after a year conferred to her husband what transpired and subsequently reported the matter to the traditional council in the community.

Nananom upon hearing the case summoned the so called pastor for his response. Without wasting much time, the sex addicted fake belly-pastor pleaded guilty to the charge leading to his fine of GHc5,000.00 and dismissal from the town.

According to the brilliant Lawyer, the act infringes on the rights of the subject. He said, the supreme law permits punishment to people with such behaviour but does not allow banishing people from their town

He was quick to add that, the ruling of Nananom would be cancelled IF the victim heads to human right courth.

LAWYER KOFI BEKAI was speaking to NANA KWABENA AMPRATWUM on OMANBAPA morning show on SILVER FM.
