South Korea influenced our decision on Free SHS – Deputy Minister

South Korea influenced our decision to implement the Free Senior High School in Ghana by hook or crook, Deputy Education Minister, Hon. Osei Yaw Adutwum has revealed.

According to the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament, only 17 out of 100 Ghanaians between the ages of 18-23 have tertiary education. The figure represents 17% vis-à-vis Korean’s ratio of 94% of persons with tertiary education.

Either, Technical, Vocational, Nurses, Teaching etc…..

The Free Secondary High School (Free SHS) education policy in Ghana was a government initiative introduced in the 2017 September Presidential administration of President Nana Akuffo-Addo.

The policy's origination began as part of the President's presidential campaign during Ghana's 2016 election period, and has become an essential part of Ghana's educational system.

The policy's core themes of access, equity and equality fulfil the United Nations modified Sustainable Development Goals, where member countries amalgamate those themes in their educational systems to certify adequate learning experiences for students.

Hon. Adutwum touting the policy on Ghana Ho Nkomo in an interview with Lov’n C said its government initiative will really save the nation in the near future.

He said the Korean government officials who visited the country just recently to donate money to Ghana to build Universities taught them that, “a country can only develop with education”.

He added that this rekindled the government to make education free for all in the country.
