TO SUCCEED; APPOINT MORE EXPERIENCED LOST MPs AS MINISTERS, DEPUTIES-NANA TOLD

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has been advised to appoint more of his Ministers and Deputy Ministers from the experienced lost New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) in the just ended 2020 general election and those who lost their slot during their primaries.

According to advisor, devising this strategy will help the government having more members in the Parliament house frequently to support it's business and approving of bills.

The 1992 Constitution mandates the President to select a percentage of his Ministers and Deputy Ministers from Parliament.

But at this time, Governance and Policy Analyst, Mr. Kojo Addo is of the view that, the President should cut down the number of the appointment of Ministers and Deputies from Parliament.

Kojo Addo was reacting to a suggestion made by a Senior Lecturer with the UCC, Mr. Kwabena Adjei urging the President to choose some of his Ministers from the minority side(NDC).

He told the host of the Omanbapa Morning Show on Silver 98.3MHz, Nana Kwabena Ampratwum that, he opposes the view.

According him, there is going to be sabotage since the NDC is devising mechanism to unseat government in the next election but rather disclosed that, if the need be, then the President should consider appointing Ministers and Deputies from the smaller minority parties excluding their main contender.

Mr. Addo stressed that, "I think if the government want to succeed in his agenda for the next Four years(4yrs), the President should select more experienced Members of NPP MPs who lost their seat during their primaries and in the general election".
