PARLIAMENTARY SERVICE BOARD CAN'T DECIDE FOR PARLIAMENT-MP
Kojo Adjei Darko, a Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West and former Local Government and Rural Development Minister has elaborated that, the Parliamentary Service Board has no control over the activities of Parliament.
He said the board is serving as the welfare manager for parliament staffs and MPs to put things on the right path but said their estimates will have to be scrutinise by parliament at the end.
His comment comes on the back of Asiedu Nketia's appointment as one of the members on the 8th Parliament's Parliamentary Service Board.
The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Bagbin has appointed the General Secretary of his own Party, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia on the Parliamentary Service Board.
According to the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Asiedu Nketia's appointment is in accordance with the standing orders of Parliament.
He said is legal and against no law.
The Board Consists of the Speaker of Parliament as the Chairman, the Majority Leader in Parliament and MP for Suame, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Minority Leader and MP for Tamale Central, Hon. Haruna Idrisu, Mr. Asiedu Nketia+General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and two others maiking it, a Six (6) member committee of Parliament.
However, the Majority Leader Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has, the Speaker of Parliament want to dominate parliament with NDC members.
He said, the speaker aside his recent appointment of the General Secretary of the NDC, he has also appointed several NDC personalities which the Majority believes is an attempt to dominate parliament.
Some people especially from the ruling government's side believe the appointment of General Mosquito will derail the independent of the works of the committee.
But reacting to it on Silver FM's morning show dubbed Omanbapa, the former MP explained to Nana Ampratwum-host, that, it cannot divert or interfere in the work.
