AMBULANCE SERVICES SHOULD BE UNDER INSURANCE SCHEME-ADMINISTRATOR PLEADS
The Ashanti Regional Principal Administrator for for National Ambulance Service(NAS), Mr. Sommik Duut Miilon is pleading the authorities to consider putting their services under insurance.
According to the Principal Administrator, this move will help sustain more live lives and make the service of the Ambulance Service effective.
The National Ambulance Service is mandated for transporting ailments emergencies to health facilities accross the country.
He said transporting patients from their various vicinities to health centers is free of charge but at times becomes difficult to convey vulnerable patients back to their places because of fuel.
He disclosed that, only fuel for emergency cases are been covered or provided by the Central government, all other runs must be be catered for by the patients themselves which the service sees it as disturbing.
Officer Duut is therefore entreating the government to as a matter of urgency include the National Ambulance Service on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to make the service more efficient and affordable to all degrees of illness not only emergencies.
During an engagement on the *OMANBAPA MORNING SHOW on SILVER FM, the Administrator for the Regional Ambulance Service, Officer Sommik Duut Miilon explained to the host of the show, *NANA KWABENA AMPRATWUM* that, "Covering all the cost of the ambulance service will help it's improvement".
