GHANA SCHOOLS TO HAVE STANDARD POLICY TO AVOID MISUNDERSTANDING-EDU. MINISTER
*GHANA SCHOOLS TO HAVE NATIONAL NATIONAL POLICY*
The Minister of Education, Hon. Osei Yaw Adutwum has today disclosed that, Ghana will soon have a National Policy for our schools.
According to the Bosomtwe Constituency Member of Parliament, the policy will help the conduct and the ethics of the schools which the students must adhere to.
His comment comes on the back of the Wesley Girls-Muslim Girls brouhaha during the Ramadan.
The Wesley Girls Senior High School under the auspices of the Methodist Church of Ghana and assisted by the Government of Ghana forced Muslim students in the school not to fast in the school.
According to the school authorities, the move was implemented to protect the healthy being of the students.
The school said their action was to avoid potential health disorder amongst the students.
The decision of the school attracted public backlash with some people even calling for the head of the school head and sanction.
But defusing the air today, the Education Minister and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe, Hon. Osei Yaw Adutwum said, his Ministry is on the table with the main factions i.e. The Christian Mission and the Muslims and also Peace Council of Ghana to resolve the matter amicably.
He said the Ministry ministry will come out with the plan to set out the modalities for our schools especially the Mission and the Muslim schools in terms of their code of conduct.
He is optimistic the National Policy if implemented will help rectify future misunderstanding such as the aforementioned fracas between the Wesley Girls School and the Muslims community.
