GOV'T DON'T CARE ABOUT TECHNICAL UNIVERTIES: TUTAG CHAIRMAN FIRES*

The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has indicated that it is on strike despite an order from the National Labour Commission (NLC) to suspend the protest.

This was disclosed by Mr. Joseph Darko, Chairman of the TUTAG's branch of Takoradi Technical University on Silver FM.

TUTAG members have embarked on a partial strike today, Monday, June 14.

Their members have been tasked not to teach, invigilate, mark examination papers and/or submit results and attend meetings of any of the Technical Universities.

According to Mr. Danso, the regulator refused to even address the official statement of TUTAG released on Friday.

He said, since 2018, TUTAG has not received any research allowance which was pledged by the same government.

He also disclosed that, pensioners of TUTAG since 2020 have not received a penny from the regulator and it is worrying.

Also, their condition of service elapsed since 2016 up till date nothing has been done about it. He also complained bitterly that, their scheme of service is broader than the existence universities making them unprogressive in their field.

He told the host of the program, Nana Ampratwum that, they are not ready to back down their strike amidst NLC draft copy.

He was unhappy that, the NLC copied draft of their statement from social media without replying their official statement issueing to them on Friday.
