PROVIDE COUNSELING FOR RASTA STUDENTS INSTEAD OF APPEALING - NUGS

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) is asking the Board of the Achimota Senior High School provide counseling for the dread-lock Rastafarian Students instead of revenging the Human Right Division of the Accra High Court’s verdict.

According to the Students Union, the future of the students must tantamount to the Board Governing the school as far as Education is concerned.

The Rastafarians were asked by the Achimota School Authorities after admission to cut down their dreadlock before they will be allowed to enter into the classrooms.

The case was taken to court by the parents of the students to testify the law about the case on grounds of human right.

The Human Right Division of the Accra High Court after case hearing asked the School authorities to admit the students.

According to the court, it will be an infringement on the part of the children to deny them Education hence the verdict.

But the School unsatisfied with judgement is also going to higher court to appeal the matter.

But the National Union of Ghana Students has described direction of the school as unnecessary.

The National Secretary on Education, Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel speaking to On Omanbapa Morning Show told Nana Ampratwum hasanxied that, the children should rather be provided counseling by the school rather appealing the case.
