THE QUALITY OF 8TH PARLIAMENT's DEBATE HAS REDUCED-MP*

A debate becomes necessary in parliament when a Member of Parliament (MP) puts forward a proposal for debate by moving a motion.

The Chair then puts the question to the House, which repeats the terms of the motion, for example 'The question is, that the Bill be now read a second time'.

Anytime the Finance Minister presents budget, there must be a debate to deliberate his figures and proves by the Majority and Minority members of Parliament.

The quality of their debate determines the way forward of the country.

So if the quality of Parliamentary debates are reduced, crucial bills and other things lack merit to the people.

Speaking on Silver FM's Omanbapa Morning Show, a Former Member of Parliament said, the debate of the house has lose weight as compared to the previous house.

According to the Kumbungu Former MP, Ras Mubarak, there are too many freshers in the 8th parliament who are inexperienced in the activities of the house.

A lot of experienced MPs lost their seats to new ones which has affected the quality of debate in Parliament.
