BROKE IN SUIT: PARLIAMENT FOOTS BILLS FOR SOME MPs-MP OPENS UP

MPs UNABLE TO PAY THEIR BILLS

The Member of Parliament (MP) is calling on the good people in the country to accept the request by the Finance Ministry for a $28 million loan from the National Investment Bank (NIB) to purchase 275 vehicles for legislators in the eighth Parliament in good faith.

Deputy Finance Minister, Abena Osei Asare, on Tuesday, July 6, laid the request before the Floor of the House.

The Minister also presented a similar request for a $3.5 million car loan for members of the 8th Council of State for them to purchase vehicles.

The request has been greeted with massive backlashes from the public. Ghanaians are saying the MPs must buy or go for loan themselves to buy their own cars.

Political Analyst, Mr. Boakye Yiadom also asked if our Honourable Members aren't capable to buying their own vehicles without government support.

"Are they not capable of buying their own cars," he told Nana Ampratwum on Omanbapa Morning on Silver FM.

But commenting on the development on the same platform, the former MP for Bantama in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Daniel Okyem Aboagye says the MPs even deserve much better as per the work they do for the country.

The former Government's spokesperson on Finance disclosed that, some Members of Parliament are incapable to foot their hospital bills due to the pressure and expenditure amounted on them by their Constituents, they become financially unstable.

He said, Parilament have to solicit to cover bills for such MPs or make arrangements for them to be treated at the Parliament's health facility freely.

"I've witnessed at least five occasions where Parliament must come in to foot health bills for some MPs", Okyem told Ampratwum.

"They deserve the loan", he added
