WE'LL NOT BELIEVE THE OUTCOME OF AMBROSE DERRY'S COMMITTEE
The Interior Ministry has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the shooting of two persons at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
This follows a directive by President Akufo-Addo, calling for a public inquiry to be conducted into the circumstances surrounding the Ejura killing incident on Tuesday, which also left four persons severely injured.
The committee members include George Kingsley Koomson, Justice of the Court of Appeal as Chairman, Security Expert, Dr Vladimir Antwi Danso and Juliet Amoah, Executive Director of Penplusbyte, a civil society organisation.
Marie Louis Simmons, a principal state attorney will be the secretary of the committee.
But sharing his opinion on the committee, the former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Saani has rejected the Ambrose Derry's set up committee headed by High Court Judge, Security Analyst, Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso and one other.
According to Saani, the Interior Minister, Ambrose Derry is complicit therefore he cannot be trusted for a fair probe.
Speaking to the media, Alhaji Saani said he prefers independent Commission of Inquiry that would call for fair punishment to persons found guilty without discrimination and reforms of the security agencies.
“I have heard that Akufo-Addo has instructed Ambrose Derry to set up a Commission of Inquiry into the matter. How can the interior Minister be fair in this, he will shield his men", Saani said.
"Nobody trust Ambrose Derry and I don't want him to take the lead to investigating this matter. We don't trust him, yes! We don't trust Ambrose Derry led committee", he added.
Ghanaians want a Commission of Inquiry within the meaning of article 278, of the 1992 Constitution.”
