I SUPPORT ALLOWA TO 1ST,2ND LADIES BUT NOT SALARIES-RETIRED LECTURER
Retired Lecturer of the Ghana Technology University, Accra, Professor Osei Piesie Antoh says total total ousting of First and Second Ladies from benefiting from the country's wallet is unfair on the part of Ghanaians.
Paying of First and Second Ladies in Ghana has become the bone of contention in the airways.
President Akuffo Addo proposed to parliament to legalise the payment of First and Second Ladies salaries.
The countries 1st and 2nd ladies has benefited from this since time ememorial but through backdoor.
After the President's gesture, Ghanaians have not taking it easy at him compelling the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo to refund her allowances since 2017.
The debate is that, they are not Article 71 Office Holders and therefore cannot enjoy under it.
Majority of the country's population currently are calling for the withdrawal of their salaries and allowances.
But reacting to this on Omanbapa Morning Show on Silver FM, the Retired Lecturer who also doubles as the Chief Elect of Krom-Adwafo in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti, Professor Nana Osei Piesie Antoh said, it will not tasteful if the nation denies them some benefit.
He said, though they are not Article 71 Office Holders but yet they help in the development of the nation through their philanthropic foundations especially the REBECCA FOUNDATION.
"I'm not calling for them to be paid but for allowances, we should look at it well, they deserve it but not salaries", Nana Osei Piesie Antoh told the host of the program, Nana Ampratwum.
