DRIVERS TO GO FOR 4DAYS INTENSIVE TRAINING BEFORE LICENSE RENEWAL-NRSA
The Head of Planning and Programing at the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Mr. David Osafo Adonteng has disclosed today that, begining from September, 2021, every driver must go for a Four (4) day intensive driver training classes organised by NRSA incollaboration with Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
According to Mr. Adonteng, failure to attend to this training by any driver will block his/her chamce of renewing his/her license.
He said this is part of their efforts as Authority to curb the unnecessary road accidents.
He was speaking about the Indiscipline on our roads on the part of drivers claiming human lives persistently on SILVER FM'S OMANBAPA MORNING with NANA AMPRATWUM.
Osafo Adonteng added that due to time constraints, the four day training will not be continuously but will be spread in months adding that the classes will be established in all the regions for easy accessibility.
"It will be compulsory for every driver in the country to go for the training before his license will be renewed", he stressed on it.
Touching on the Indiscipline on our roads, he said it is about high time drivers receive intensive training to acquire knowledge to avoid petty errors they make on the road.
The NRSA Head of Planning and Programing elaborated that, the authority aims to achieving a zero Indiscipline or less on the road to help reduce road accidents thereby preventing human lives.
He also revealed that all long distance vehicle operators are mandated to have backup drivers to assist each other on the road to avoid tired and sleepy driving.
He stated that the NRSA has laiased with the transport operators such GPRTU, PROTOA, MMT, STC, VIP etc. enforce this measure unearthing that there are severe sanction to defaulters of this directive.
