Wesley Girls brouhaha: Every Institution has their code of ethics- Peace Council
The Ashanti Regional Executive Secretary for Peace Council, Rev. Emmanuel Amoah Badu has stated categorically that, the code of cunduct in our institutions must be respected. He said every institution has its own code of ethics which should heed to.
The Ashanti Regional Executive Secretary of Peace Country revealed that, these ethics account for the running of such organisations.
Meahwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has also called on Religious Leaders not to fight ideological battles in schools.
He has entreated religious leaders in the country to be tolerant of each other’s religion. He said they should not turn schools into ideological and religious fighting grounds.
Addressing the nation at the virtual 2021 Eid festival, he stated that schools serve as major grounds for socialisation, therefore, they shouldn’t be reduced to places to fight ideological and religious battles.
The President cited Article 12(C) of the 1992 Constitution which states that all persons have the right to practice any religion and to manifest such practice and noted that it is imperative for each religion to be tolerant of others.
The call follows recent squabbles between adherents of the two major religions in the country, Christianity and Islam, over the refusal of the management of Wesley Girls Senior High School to permit Muslim students to fast during the Ramadan period.
Speaking to Nana Ampratwum on Silver fm Omanbapa morning show, Rev. Amoah said, there should a standadized policy to run schools in the country but said the should be a respect for code of ethics as far as missions schools are concerned.
Citing Wesley Girls which issue has popped up as an example, he said they have their ethics running the school with hence participants should accord with.
He said there should be a dialogue to rectify the potential fracas which the Peace Council is up to.
