The candidates who sat for the 1st and 2nd October, 2020 NTC examination and had failure in some of the papers written, after the resit had recalled 90% massive failure across the country which candidates who are victims are not happy and furious of the outcome of the results which will lead to the candidates unable to get Ghana Education posting this year .
The national teaching Council (NTC) has three papers which candidates who want to be professional teachers has to pass before giving the license to become professional teachers. NUMERACY, LITERACY AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS are the papers candidates of both universities and the 46 Colleges of Educations across the country has to pass before giving the nod and Licence to become professional teachers.
According to majority of the candidates who are victims are expressing their unsatisfaction on the NTC policies and their marking criterias for teachers to be professional with this Exams . Some Said "we spent almost three years in college of education and wrote numerous of Educational exams and passed, and also we are doing national service if we are not qualified then we are contamination the environment. We don't know how they are doing their thing concerning the NTC exams and the professionalism they are claiming "
They added that "How can an exams we wrote in 2020 at a particular centre after registring at a different centre differently from the 2020 one in 2021 still have the same old centre we wrote in 2020. Was the exams marked at all?"
Ahead of the dissatisfaction of some of the candidates shared their outcome of the results which one of them states "Right now if l check my results, my centre is JAHAN COLLEGE meanwhile l wrote the resit paper at TAMALE COLLEGE" and also " With regard to the NTC exams results released, it is very terribly bad and most of the resitters are affected including me. On that note the whole issue seems to be deliberate and we're not satisfied with the results at all"
In addition "NTC has currently stolen our minds after they released the results and noticed that, affected candidates are complaining about *centres* not reflecting on the *portal* . They quickly sent a *link* indicating that, all *affected candidates* should fill in the link and *submit*( *Your full* *name, Exam* *Centre, Exam ID*, *Course failed* etc.). After we have done everything and submitted, they only changed our centres without changing the results. I confidently believe that our scripts were not marked and that was why they found it difficult to locate *our centres* and *other details*. So they published our *old results* with our *old* *centres*. When l checked my results, it was the *old centre* that was there. After filling that link, they quickly *changed my* *centre*. Some people *checked* and *passed* everything but when they went to print, they realised they were failed again. We have screenshots of all what we are concerned about. TTAG has to still investigate and get more issues from *affected* *candidates*.
Following the release from TTAG on the mass failure of the just ended March Licensure Examination, the leadership, on Thursday 5th August, 2021, engaged the Registrar of National Teaching Council, Dr. Christian Addai Poku in Accra to ascertain the cause of the mass failure, demand statistics and procedure for remarking, and also appealed for another exams to be conducted as soon as possible for the victims to be recruited by GES.
On the cause of the mass failure, the Registrar informed the leadership that majority of those who sat for the exams were resit students and that, preparation towards the exams was adequate. He further stated that there wasn't any leakage of any of the papers, and invigilation was tight since the victims were not allowed to sit for the papers in their various institutions. He then emphatically stated that the results were not the true reflection of the performance of the students.
The leadership further requested for the statistics of the exams to clear the mindset of its constituents of a deliberate attempt by NTC to shortlist the number of trained teachers who will be eligible for recruitment by GES.
In response to the request, the leadership were told that the statistics over the years have been twisted by the media which sends negative signal about teachers. He elaborated further that the media only publish the failures and relegate the good news of the results to bring disrepute to our fraternity, therefore there would be no statistics of the exams this year.
He further stated that whoever feels they have been cheated can challenge their results by applying for remarking. He is ready to do open remarking where the answer booklet of the applicant will be juxtaposed to the marking scheme in the applicant's presence, he added.
Procedure for remarking include; writing official letter to the Registrar of NTC requesting for your scrip(s) to be remarked where an amount of six hundred Ghana cedis (Gh600.00) will be paid into NTC account as remarking fee.
The leadership further appealed to the Registrar for the victims to be given the opportunity to redeem themselves before the portal of GES will be opened for recruitment. The Registrar assured the delegation that they are working to open the portal in the middle of this Month(August) for the victims to redeem themselves.
