GHS ADOPTS 'PEER TO PEER' ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVE TO FIGHT COVID
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has stated that, in order to win the fight against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, it has launched a method called, "Peer to Peer Enforcement Initiative".
According to the Service, they are entreating all stakeholders and other individuals to avoid contacting themselves with friends and loved ones who are unmasked henceforth.
It's said the initiation if properly observed by all will help prevent the virus and defeat it.
This was was made known on Silver FM's Omanbapa Morning Show today by the Director of Public Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service.
"Before I start my brother, let me unearth that, GHS has introduced Peer to Peer Enforcement Initiative which is enforcing each an every to stay away from their co workers, loved ones, friends, staffs etc. when they are not in their mask", the Director in charge of the Public Health Promotion at the GHS, Dr. Aboagye Dacosta told the host of the program, Nana Ampratwum.
Meanwhile Ghana has received the delivery of another 249,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the UK government.
The vaccines, which were delivered on Wednesday [August 18, 2021] through the COVAX facility, was received at the Kotoka International Airport by a Deputy Minister of Health, Tina Mensah, a Representative of the UK High Commission, Mr. John Whittle & the UNICEF Representative and other partners.
UNICEF said the donation is to “support the ongoing vaccination campaign.” The vaccines will be transported to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for storage and subsequent use.
The arrival of the AstraZeneca vaccine comes to give a major boost to Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccination drive, which slowed down for about two months.
